(KEYT) Critics of the Vic Trace Reservoir Replacement Project are concerned about trees. They said the plan could lead to the removal of 50-100 old and established trees in the Alta Mesa neighborhood of Santa Barbara. They plan to protest at a 4 pm at the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting at Santa Barbara City Hall today. The Street Tree Advisory Committee is scheduled to give a presentation and ask for feedback. The city website says the reservoir, constructed in 1956, is approaching the end of its useful life. A multi-year project calls for the construction of two new reservoirs to deliver water to the community. The website says the removal of 55-108 trees is part of the proposal.
