(KEYT) - The board of supervisors honored the Santa Barbara County Fire Department this morning for a century of service. A long day’s agenda for the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors started with a resolution recognizing a full 100 years of the fire department’s service to Central Coast communities. Sponsored by supervisor and board chair Bob Nelson, the fire department’s environmental stewardship, emergency response, hazard mitigation, and educational outreach efforts were acknowledged. Chief Garrett Huff, who took office in December following Mark Hartwig’s retirement, received the honor at the Joseph Centenno government building in Santa Maria.
