Increasing clouds Thursday, tracking rain & thunderstorms this weekend

Storm clouds roll in Friday as a cold low pressure system arrives along the California coastline. Mostly cloudy skies will bring temperatures down a few degrees. Highs rise into the upper 60s and low 70s. Winds will be strong at times but not up to advisory level. Lows drop into the 50s and some marine layer clouds develop.

On and off again rain begins Friday morning and will last into the overnight. All pop up showers and thunderstorms will be small and fast moving. Rainfall amounts will be close to a third of an inch or less for all microclimates. Wind Advisories are likely by Friday evening. Marine conditions will be hazardous at times. Highs rise into the 60s.

The potent cold front arrives Saturday. This means heavier showers, cooler temperatures and stronger winds. A wall of moisture moves in Saturday evening bringing brief and heavy rain at times. We watch showers transition back to isolated thunderstorms by Sunday. A drying trend begins Monday into next week.
