Tracking sweltering heat Tuesday, extreme heat Wednesday

Happy Tuesday! We start the morning with minimal marine layer influence and toasty temperatures. Many areas are on the rise today as a heat dome continues to strengthen along the west. Many beach areas rise to 80s while inland valleys skyrocket to 90s and triple digits. Our Heat Advisory was extended while an Extreme Heat Warning is in place for valleys and the far interior starting at 10am. Some areas have the possibility of reaching 110 degrees which would smash most daily records. Overnight lows provide minimal relief as some drop to 60s and others drop to 70s. High Surf remains as issue for the beaches, waves are projected around 7Ft. Minor coastal flooding is likely, avoid rocks jetties and be aware of sneaker waves.

Peak heat for all areas arrives Wednesday, this is deemed a Severe Weather Day by the First Alert Weather Team. We have 90s set for Santa Barbara and other beaches which can be dangerous as many coastal communities are without air conditioning. Young children are at risk of heat exhaustion, know the signs and stay extra hydrated. For workers outside seek shade and take additional breaks. Many areas will drop into the 60s and 70s again. Minimal marine layer or cloud coverage relief.

The last day of real heat holds Thursday. We begin a needed cooling trend Friday into the weekend as the two heat domes out to the west begin to break down and move away. Many areas will welcome back the marine layer and fog will appear late at night. Monsoonal clouds may hold through the weekend. More information to come.
