(KEYT) The fallout of the Cesar Chavez sex abuse allegations are impacting his old La Colonia neighborhood in Oxnard. A giant bust of the civil rights icon has been turned and covered up with cloth at Cesar Chavez Elementary School on N. Marquita St. The school also has a tarp covering the name at the entrance near the statue. Steps away at Colinia Park off Juanita Ave, X made of chalk crosses his image on a mural. Chavez lived in a home a few blocks away on Garfield Ave. during some of his childhood. A New York Times investigation revealed accusations of child sexual abuse and rape. United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta said she was a victim of his abuse that led to two pregnancies. She said she didn't tell anyone because she was focused on UFW efforts to help farm workers. Huerta recently spoke to college bound students at Oxnard College before the allegations came to light.
