Man arrested after barricading himself inside pastor’s office during alleged burglary Saturday

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 28-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon after barricading himself in a pastor's office when he was caught burglarizing a church on Telephone Road.

Earlier this month, the same 28-year-old was arrested for prowling and trespassing on a church's property in the 6000 block Telephone Road noted the Ventura Police Department.

On March 21, around 3:55 p.m., a church employee called 911 to report a burglary in progress and that they recognized the burglar as the same 28-year-old from the earlier call explained the Ventura Police Department.

According to Ventura Police, officers arrived at the church within a minute and the 28-year-old barricaded himself inside an office using a chair against the door.

The 28-year-old refused to exit the office and threatened to use force on the responding officers at the scene shared the Ventura Police Department.

After the the barricaded man saw the arrival of Officer Noah Brown and his K9 partner Shine to the scene, he surrendered without any further incident stated the Ventura Police Department.

Officers located a pair of scissors in the man's jacket pocket and that he was wearing clothes that belonged to the church as well as additional church property after a search of his person shared the Ventura Police Department.

He was booked at the Ventura County Jail for burglary and possession of stolen property.
