Santa Barbara physicians sees rise in colorectal cancer among younger patients

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - A new study shows nearly half of colorectal cancer cases are now being diagnosed in people under 50.

Doctors say the trend is alarming as the disease has traditionally affected older adults.

A gastroenterologist at Sansum Clinic says lifestyle, genetics, and delayed screenings may all play a role.

Physicians are urging people to pay attention to symptoms and talk to their doctor about screening options sooner.
