Oak View residents arrested for alleged possession of drugs and unregistered guns

OAK VIEW, Calif. (KEYT) - A man and a woman were arrested Wednesday after detectives found unregistered guns and drugs in their vehicle in the Ojai Valley, sheriff's officials said.

Detectives found a loaded, unregistered handgun and narcotics in a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, both identified as Oak View residents, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle was stopped under the authority of a search warrant. Detectives used that warrant to enter a residence on the 11400 block of Creek Road in Oak View, where they found an unregistered handgun, unregistered shotgun and ammunition, per the sheriff's office.

The search warrant was issued after the woman was arrested in February for being under the influence of drugs and having a "ghost gun"-style handgun. A "ghost gun" typically refers to firearms that are made at home, have no serial number, and are difficult to trace.

Both the man and woman were booked on multiple narcotics and firearm charges.
