Police Investigating Fatal Shooting of Ventura Woman Sunday Morning as a Homicide

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – A Ventura woman was shot and killed Sunday morning and police are now investigating her death as a homicide.

The Ventura Police Department shared that the fatal incident is believed to have been an isolated incident at this point in its investigation and there is no broader threat to the community.

On July 19, around 3:24 a.m., a patrolling officer spotted an injured woman, later identified as a 34-year-old Ventura resident, near the intersection of West Ramona Street and Olive Street stated a press release Sunday from the Ventura Police Department.

The woman was gravely injured form an apparent gunshot wound and she was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where she died shortly after arrival shared the local law enforcement agency.

According to Ventura Police, as medical responders were heading to the scene, dispatchers began receiving calls reporting a shooting in the area and law enforcement personnel responded to the area to conduct an initial investigation of the incident.
