Las Fuerzas Militares de EE.UU. atacaron tres embarcaciones presuntamente dedicadas al narcotráfico en el este del océano Pacífico el lunes, y reportaron ocho personas muertas, según el Comando Sur de EE.UU.

“El 15 de diciembre, por orden de @SecWar Pete Hegseth, la Fuerza de Tarea Conjunta Southern Spear llevó a cabo ataques cinéticos letales sobre tres embarcaciones operadas por Organizaciones Terroristas Designadas en aguas internacionales”, escribió SOUTHCOM en X. “La inteligencia confirmó que las embarcaciones transitaban por rutas conocidas de narcotráfico en el Pacífico Oriental y estaban involucradas en actividades de narcotráfico”.

Al menos 95 personas han muerto hasta ahora en ataques contra embarcaciones sospechosas de tráfico de drogas como parte de una campaña llamada Operación Southern Spear, que el Gobierno de Trump ha dicho que tiene como objetivo frenar el tráfico de narcóticos.

Las Fuerzas Militares de EE.UU. atacaron recientemente una embarcación sospechosa de narcotráfico el 4 de diciembre en el Pacífico Oriental, matando a cuatro personas a bordo, según otra publicación en redes sociales del Comando Sur de EE.UU.

Los recientes ataques se producen mientras aumenta el escrutinio sobre la ofensiva del Gobierno de Trump contra las supuestas embarcaciones de narcotráfico.

El Gobierno de Trump informó al Congreso que EE.UU. está en un “conflicto armado” contra los cárteles de la droga que comenzó con su primer ataque el 2 de septiembre. Las Fuerzas Militares ejecutaron un ataque de seguimiento ese mismo día contra la supuesta embarcación de narcotráfico que operaba en el Caribe, después de que un ataque inicial no matara a todos los que estaban a bordo, informó CNN anteriormente, lo que algunos legisladores demócratas y expertos legales dijeron que podría constituir un crimen de guerra.

El Gobierno ha calificado a los muertos como “combatientes ilegales” y ha afirmado tener la capacidad de realizar ataques letales sin revisión judicial debido a una conclusión clasificada del Departamento de Justicia.

Los ataques forman parte de una campaña de presión de varios meses sobre Venezuela que ha incluido el desplazamiento de miles de soldados y un grupo de ataque de portaaviones al Caribe, así como repetidas amenazas contra el presidente de Venezuela Nicolás Maduro.

La semana pasada, EE.UU. anunció nuevas sanciones contra empresas navieras y embarcaciones que, según afirma, ayudan a transportar petróleo venezolano, un día después de incautar un petrolero sancionado frente a la costa del país.

(CNN) — The US military conducted a strike against three alleged drug-trafficking boats in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Monday, killing 8 people, according to US Southern Command.

“On Dec. 15, at the direction of @SecWar Pete Hegseth, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted lethal kinetic strikes on three vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations in international waters,” SOUTHCOM wrote on X. “Intelligence confirmed that the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were engaged in narco-trafficking.”

At least 95 people have now been killed in strikes on suspected drug boats as part of a campaign, dubbed Operation Southern Spear, that the Trump administration has said is aimed at curtailing narcotics trafficking. The US military most recently struck a suspected drug boat on December 4 in the Eastern Pacific, killing four people on board, according to another social media post from US Southern Command.

(CNN) — Retiring George Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on Monday her engagement to Brian Glenn, a pro-Trump pundit who works for the far-right news network Real America’s Voice.

“Happily ever after!!!” Greene posted on X. Glenn, who is chief White House correspondent for the MAGA-aligned network, also shared the engagement on social media with a photo of him embracing Greene while she shows off her engagement ring.

The announcement comes weeks after Greene had a public falling out with President Donald Trump an dsaid she would resign from office in January, noting that she wanted to avoid a nasty primary. Trump has called her a “traitor” and said he’d support a GOP challenge to her House seat.

Greene, who had been an ardent Trump supporter since arriving on Capitol Hill in 2021, now insists the president has been too focused on foreign policy in his second term and is not doing enough to sell his domestic agenda at home. She, along with fellow Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has been one of the most vocal critics of the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case files.

Glenn notably called out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for not wearing a suit to the White House, at a contentious Oval Office event in February.

Greene and Glenn met in 2022 and began publicly dating early the next year, after both had begun divorce proceedings for their first marriages, according to the Washington Post.

The next steps in Greene’s career remain unclear. CNN has previously reported that the Georgia congresswoman, who earlier this year had been discussed as a potential candidate for her state’s high-stakes Senate race, currently has no known plans to run for office.
