Jerusalem (CNN) — Despite a fragile US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza, Israel carried out a strike targeting Hamas’ most senior military leader, according to a joint statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Israel held Izz al-Din al-Haddad responsible for being one of the “architects” of the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023 and for holding hostages in the attack’s aftermath. Israel also accused al-Haddad of refusing “to implement the agreement led by US President (Donald) Trump for Hamas to disarm and for the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip.”

The secretive al-Haddad is considered one of the most important figures in Hamas, known as the “Ghost of al-Qassam” for the low profile he maintains. He is the head of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing.

A senior Israeli security official said initial indications were that the assassination of al-Haddad was successful.

CNN is unable to independently confirm whether al-Haddad was killed in the strike.

CNN has reached out to Hamas for comment.

The attack comes despite an ostensible ceasefire that has been in place since October. Israel has carried out regular strikes in Gaza that it says are targeting Hamas or what officials describe as imminent threats to Israeli forces occupying more than half of the destroyed enclave.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

ORCUTT, Calif. (KEYT) - Crime scene investigators and Santa Barbara County Sheriffs are at Town & Country Mobile Home Park in Orcutt.

Details as to the crime that has been committed or how this all started have yet to be confirmed, but neighbors say they’ve had an unusual morning.

Your News Channel has learned that the vehicle was involved in a high speed chase that came south-bound from Clark Avenue on Stillwell, and into this senior mobile home community.

Details are unclear at this at this time but it appears the driver of the vehicle, when cornered, jumped out.

It is unknown if any shots were fired, but deputies are apparently searching a canyon on the community’s south side along with K-9 units while Forensics continues an inspection of the vehicle involved.

It seems they are looking for only one individual.

We will remain on the scene and will provide updates as they come into our news room.

Annual Barn Dance Fundraiser to Support Equine Therapy Programs in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center is inviting the community to its annual Barn Dance fundraiser and auction this Saturday in Santa Barbara.

The event benefits the nonprofit’s equine-assisted services for people with disabilities, veterans, and others in need. Organizers say proceeds from the fundraiser will help support scholarships, horse care, facility upgrades, and year-round equine-assisted programs for people of all ages, abilities, and financial backgrounds.

For the past 40 years, HEARTS Therapeutic Equestrian Center has provided equine-assisted services to children and adults with special needs and disabilities. The organization says it hopes to continue growing and expanding its programs in the future.

According to organizers, HEARTS has served more than 7,000 people with the support of over 4,000 volunteers. In 2025, the organization received Santa Barbara’s Nonprofit Champions of Accessibility Award.

Along with raising funds, staff members say they hope the Barn Dance also helps community members learn more about the organization and connect with its mission.

“Our main goal is really to get the community more involved with what we do up here,” said HEARTS Board Chairman Andrew Wilson. “It’s sort of an unknown secret. People don’t always think about the children who come up here, the volunteers who help, and how the experience helps everyone grow together.”

Back in 2024, one HEARTS participant, Jessica Simon, shared her personal journey with the organization. Simon, who has Down syndrome, said the program has helped ease her anxiety, build confidence, and provide support through her connections with the horses and volunteers.

This Saturday, Simon is expected to speak during the event.

Tickets for the Barn Dance are available on HEARTS Therapeutic Equestrian Center’s official website. Organizers say donations can also be made year-round for those unable to attend the fundraiser.
