(CNN) — A daring and complex rescue operation is ongoing in a remote cave in Laos. After one survivor was safely evacuated on Friday, a multinational team of cave diver specialists aim to resume rescue efforts on Saturday. There are four known survivors still in the cave, and two other people are still missing.

Here’s everything CNN knows about how the rescue operation has unfolded so far and the depths to which the rescuers have had to dive to reach the trapped men.

Troops to get free tickets to White House UFC event, but must meet weight standards

(CNN) — Senior Pentagon leaders are putting together lists of uniformed US service members who will be offered the chance to attend the UFC fight at the White House next month hosted by President Donald Trump, but tickets will only be given to those who meet weight requirements that are part of military fitness standards, according to guidance memos reviewed by CNN and sources familiar with the process.

“Ticket recipients are required to meet the DOW waist-to-height ratio standard of less than 0.55, as well as all service specific physical fitness test requirements,” one of the memos sent to service members says, using the Pentagon’s preferred acronym for the agency.

That figure is roughly in line with standards for service members that the Defense Department put in place earlier this year when it made waist-to-height ratio the new body composition standard for measuring a service member’s “warfighting readiness.” It is part of an intense focus on physical fitness by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who described his vision for the military in a speech to senior uniformed leaders last year.

There will be no “fat troops” or “fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon,” Hegseth said in the October during a speech at Marine Base Quantico, Virginia.

The Pentagon declined to comment on the guidance about the UFC event.

One defense official said the selection requirements for Trump’s made-for-TV UFC event send a very clear message to soldiers interested in attending: “No fattys.”

Another defense official familiar with the approval process said senior Pentagon leaders have signaled their preference that DoD attendees “look good” on camera during the event. “Basically, no fat soldiers,” the person said.

The guidance also directs commanders to only distribute tickets to “genuine UFC fans” and to focus on selecting junior enlisted and junior officers, according to the memos reviewed by CNN.

And while the Pentagon guidance recommends military leaders recruit attendees who live outside the nation’s capital, it notes that service members will be required to pay their own way, though the tickets are free.

The Pentagon has tightly orchestrated the optics of Trump’s appearances with US troops, including at his previous visit to Ft. Bragg where soldiers were handpicked for the audience based on political leanings and physical appearance. The troops ultimately selected to be behind Trump and visible to the cameras were almost exclusively male.

Artists are bailing on a Trump-backed concert for America’s 250th

Construction continues for the Great American State Fair

By T.M. Brown, CNN

(CNN) — What if there was a concert celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and none of the artists showed up?

That’s one of the possibilities that Freedom 250, a public-private partnership created by the Trump administration, is facing after the majority of the artists it booked to perform at a marquee concert series dropped out this week. The Commodores, Martina McBride, Morris Day & the Time, Poison frontman Bret Michaels, and rapper Young MC have all publicly distanced themselves from the string of performances scheduled to take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC, from June 25 through July 10 as part of the Great American State Fair.

“I was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading,” McBride, the country star, wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday announcing her decision not to perform.

Freedom 250 is a White House organization launched by executive order to create Trump-driven alternatives to the events planned by the nonpartisan United States Semiquincentennial Commission, America250. The announced concert lineup was heavily tilted towards legacy acts like Morris Day and Vanilla Ice, and many of them share the same booking agent in Jeff Epstein of Universal Attractions. Epstein did not respond to repeat requests for comment.

All of the artists who have pulled out suggested they were misled about the event’s political associations. “The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event,” Young MC said in a statement on Instagram. The rapper told Rolling Stone that the concert was a “bait-and-switch.”

Bret Michaels, who won “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2010 and who has been complimentary of President Donald Trump in the past, cited a similar issue. “Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram on Friday. He also said that he and his crew have received threats due to his potential participation in the event.

Not everyone has dropped out though. The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper Vanilla Ice, a vocal Trump supporter who has performed at Mar-a-Lago several times, said “I’m super honored to do this concert” in a TikTok video. “We don’t take anything too serious, man.” The rapper Flo Rida, of the blockbuster late aughts dance hit “Low,” has not made a statement about whether he will still perform.

The infamous pop duo Milli Vanilli, also announced as part of the lineup, is in a somewhat strange position. The group won a best new artist Grammy in 1990 before it was revealed that frontmen Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus had not sung on the recordings credited to them. Jodie Rocco, one of the artists who provided the real vocals for the group and who performs with other singers from the sessions under the name “The Real Milli Vanilli,” told the AP that she was “shocked” that Milli Vanilli was a li
