Las Fuerzas Armadas de EE.UU. llevaron a cabo un ataque contra una presunta lancha de narcotráfico en el Caribe este lunes, matando a tres personas, anunció el Comando Sur de EE.UU. en una publicación en redes sociales.

La publicación, que incluía un video del ataque, dijo que la lancha era “operada por Organizaciones Terroristas Designadas” y que la inteligencia “confirmó que la embarcación transitaba por rutas conocidas de narcotráfico en el Caribe y estaba involucrada en operaciones de narcotráfico”. Al menos 151 personas han muerto hasta ahora en la campaña militar en curso denominada Operación Lanza del Sur.

El secretario de Defensa, Pete Hegseth, ha bromeado en declaraciones públicas que la disuasión militar del narcotráfico por vía marítima está funcionando, haciendo difícil encontrar presuntas lanchas de narcotráfico para atacar en América Latina.

Pero la operación de hoy marca el séptimo ataque a una embarcación este año. El ataque más reciente fue el viernes, contra una lancha en el océano Pacífico oriental que también mató a tres personas. A principios de la semana pasada, el lunes por la noche, las Fuerzas Armadas de EE.UU. atacaron tres presuntas lanchas de narcotráfico en el Caribe y el Pacífico oriental, matando a 11 personas.

Legisladores han dicho que funcionarios del Gobierno confirmaron en sesiones informativas a puerta cerrada que no siempre conocen la identidad de cada persona a bordo de las embarcaciones que son atacadas.

Police investigating hit-and-run collision Sunday night that took the life of unidentified bicyclist

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – On Sunday, a bicyclist was hit and killed in the area of Blosser Road and Bunny Avenue and his death is now under investigation.

On Feb. 22, around 6:45 p.m., first responders were sent to the intersection of Blosser Road and Bunny Avenue after receiving a report about a person down near the roadway stated a press release Monday from the Santa Maria Police Department.

Arriving officers found a deceased man near the roadway on the west side of Blosser Road and a preliminary investigation suggests that he was riding his bicycle in the southbound bike lane when he was struck by a vehicle heading the same direction detailed the Santa Maria Police Department.

Santa Maria Police Department shared that the deceased man is an adult man believed to be in his 50s.

His identification will be released pending notification of his next of kin.

The involved vehicle has not been located and the fatal incident is currently under investigation as a hit-and-run incident noted the Santa Maria Police Department.
