¿Qué pasaría si se celebrara un concierto para conmemorar el 250 aniversario de Estados Unidos y ninguno de los artistas se presentara?

Esa es una de las posibilidades que enfrenta el Freedom 250, una iniciativa público-privada creada por el Gobierno de Trump, después de que la mayoría de los artistas contratados para actuar en una serie de conciertos de gran relevancia cancelaran su participación esta semana. (CNN) — Donald Trump Jr. and his new wife, Bettina Trump, posted a wedding video on social media Friday, offering new, behind-the-scenes glimpses of their luxurious, tropical nuptials in the Bahamas.

The video came with a caption: “The night I married my best friend, my love, and my forever.”

It continued, “Bettina, you have brought so much peace, joy, and light into my life. Standing beside you, surrounded by our siblings, your mom, Donnie, and Kai, I have never felt more grateful or more certain of anything.”

“My wife. My heart. My forever,” Don Jr. concluded.

The video offers an intimate look at the wedding day last weekend, beginning with the couple taking a dip in the turquoise waters of the Bahamas during what appeared to be a pre-ceremony photoshoot. Dressed in coordinating white and light blue outfits, the pair are seen embracing along the shoreline.

The footage then shifts to preparations for the ceremony, showing champagne toasts, close-up shots of Bettina’s crystal-studded silver wedding heels, her silk wedding gown hanging alongside a bridal robe, and a custom pin with charms featuring photos of her late father. Among the personal touches highlighted in the footage is a candle emblazoned with the phrase “Love Trumps All.”

The wedding celebration took place at the luxe Little Pipe Cay, an exclusive 38-acre private island for the mega-wealthy boasting beaches, five “luxurious cottage estates” with 11 bedrooms, butler service, spa, and a private chapel. The guest list was fewer than 50 people, and extra security precautions were put in place after the event’s location was leaked, sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Previously, family members had shared only snapshots on Instagram, including a white silk embroidered “Mrs. Trump” in script, along with a cocktail napkin quoting Jane Austen: “My heart is and always will be yours.”

In the newly released footage, Donald Trump Jr. is shown preparing for the ceremony in a tan suit — no tie. The video highlights a personalized detail stitched inside his jacket, a scripted letter “B” for Bettina outlined with a heart. At one point in the video, he seen is sitting on a lounge chair, reading what appears to be handwritten vows or a note to his bride. While family members and close friends are seen helping the couple get ready, sharing hugs, smiles and celebratory moments — missing in the video is the groom’s father, President Donald Trump. He remained at the White House as talks over a possible peace deal with Iran continued.

The groom is seen later arriving by golf cart at the small wedding chapel, where family members had gathered for the ceremony. Inside the intimate venue, his children Kai, Tristan and Spencer can be seen standing in the front, while his sister Ivanka Trump is seen seated with her husband, Jared Kushner, and his half-sister Tiffany Trump and her husband, Michael Boulos, in the last row of the small chapel.

The video concludes with a sparkler sendoff as the newlyweds share a kiss as husband and wife. A cover of the classic Ronettes hit “Be My Baby” plays over the clip.

Shrey Parikh correctly spelled these and more tricky terms to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which ended in a tense and record-breaking speed round.

The 14-year-old Californian survived 18 regular rounds of the spelling competition plus a “spell-off” tiebreaker, during which he correctly spelled an unprecedented 32 words in 90 seconds. He won with “bromocriptine,” a “polypeptide alkaloid that is a derivative of ergot and mimics the activity of dopamine.”

It was Shrey’s third time at the big bee and his final year of eligibility, but he had come close to victory before: He finished third in 2024 and shockingly missed the cut for the national competition last year, so he took six months off from spelling before reopening his Merriam-Webster dictionary.

Runner-up Ishaan Gupta, 12, put up an impressive 25 words in the spell-off. Three-time bee veteran Sarv Dharavane finished in third place for the second year straight. He misspelled “disa,” a tropical African terrestrial orchid.

Parikh barely broke a sweat through “philepitta” and “potto,” terms for genuses of an African bird and primate, respectively. Upon winning, the eighth-grader said the final round of the bee felt like “just another day of spelling.”

“Spelling fast is what I do every day,” Shrey said while hoisting the Scripps Cup high. “A spell-off just came naturally.”

Spell-offs, which were introduced in 2021, are becoming something of a biannual trend at the National Spelling Bee: The 2022 and 2024 winners were determined in the speed rounds. But Shrey beat both of those winners’ records with 32 correct spellings out of around 35 words.

The preternaturally professional young competitors made it through rounds of obscure nouns like “hwyl” and “Igdyr.” Fifth-place finisher Logan Bailey couldn’t believe his luck when he correctly spelled “ceutorhynchus,” used to describe “a large nearly cosmopolitan genus of weevils.” He was ultimately felled by “Quincke tube,” though he was briefly delighted when longtime bee pronouncer Jacques Bailly referenced “KPop Demon Hunters” in a sentence that included the term.

As champion, Shrey takes home more than $50,000 in cash prizes, plus a trip to the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. Merriam-Webster offers the winner a one-year subscription to its unabridged online reference book, too, should he, for some unknown reason, need it.

(CNN) — In our roundup of travel stories this week: what it’s like inside Air New Zealand’s new bunk beds, why cruise ships are adding a phantom destination to their itinerary, plus the dark fascist secret that lies under one of Europe’s biggest train stations.

Tragic legacy

It’s a little over 80 years since the end of World War II, but the legacy of that dark period of history lingers on.

In Italy, Milan’s main train station is a tourist attraction in its own right. Its monumental facade is festooned with statues of winged horses and gargoyles, and inside, vast staircases sweep up to the 21-platform departure hall.

However, beneath Milano Centrale’s main passenger facilities lies a concealed platform which, during World War II, was used by Italy’s Nazi occupiers and fascist sympathizers to dispatch Jews and political opponents to death camps. It’s the only place of Nazi deportation to still exist intact.

On the remote Pacific island of Peleliu in Palau, one of the bloodiest and least remembered battles of World War II’s Pacific theater took place nearly 82 years ago.

In September 1944, American troops arrived on the island for what they believed to be a straightforward mission of destroying a Japanese air base. Unknown to the Americans, and unspotted by their air reconnaissance, Peleliu is full of deep underground cave networks, which the Japanese had fortified and stocked with food, water and ammunition.

The Battle of Peleliu dragged on for two long, grim months, claiming the lives of about 14,000 Japanese and 10,000 Americans. Today, tourists come from thousands of miles away to remember the tragic loss.

Set the coordinates

Back near the start of the 20th century, experts at the US Coast and Geodetic Survey attempted to find the center of what was then the United States’ 48 states. They did this by the unusual method of cutting out a cardboard map of the country and balancing it on the head of a pin to find its center of gravity.

The pivot point turned out to be in northern Kansas, just outside a town called Lebanon. Here’s what CNN found there today.
