La presidenta encargada de Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, anunció este martes que una delegación de diplomáticos viajará esta semana a Estados Unidos, sin precisar la fecha, para avanzar en el inicio de las relaciones bilaterales.

“Esta semana estará partiendo para Washington la delegación de diplomáticos que va a asumir el inicio de esta nueva etapa de relaciones y diálogo diplomático, político, entre nuestros Gobiernos”, declaró Rodríguez durante un encuentro con inversionistas, transmitido por el canal estatal Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

La líder chavista también le dijo a los invitados que espera que vuelvan pronto y puedan “avanzar con cosas más concretas”.

Rodríguez reiteró su petición al presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, para que cesen las sanciones contra Venezuela. “Le hemos pedido al presidente Trump para los inversionistas, no solamente para Venezuela, que no haya sanciones contra Venezuela, contra su economía”, subrayó la presidenta encargada.

CNN consultó al Departamento de Estado sobre este encuentro anunciado y está a la espera de respuesta.

A inicios de mes, Caracas y Washington acordaron formalmente restablecer sus lazos diplomáticos, que estaban rotos desde principios de 2019.

Ambos gobiernos han avanzado en sus coordinaciones desde que un operativo militar estadounidense capturó en Caracas en enero al presidente Nicolás Maduro y su esposa, quienes tienen una audiencia judicial prevista para este jueves.

A mediados de marzo, el Gobierno de Trump notificó a la Justicia de EE.UU. sobre el reconocimiento oficial de Rodríguez como gobernante de Venezuela, una medida que la mandataria encargada agradeció: “No es el reconocimiento a una persona ni a un gobierno, es el reconocimiento a un país y que ese país pueda recuperar su vida, pueda respirar”.
