La gran final en el estadio Puskás de Hungría se siente cada vez más cerca, y este martes y miércoles la UEFA Champions League dará un nuevo paso hacia la definición por la “Orejona” cuando se definan los ocho equipos que participarán de los cuartos de final del torneo.

El menú de los octavos de final tiene a los equipos locales en problemas. Solo el Bayern Munich comenzará desde el minuto cero con ventaja (y mucha) en el Allianz Arena. Habrá dos partidos que empezarán igualados, y los otros cinco tendrán a los visitantes más cerca del boleto a la siguiente ronda.

Cuatro equipos tienen una misión casi que imposible, debiendo igualar una serie que los tiene tres goles abajo. Manchester City (0-3), Chelsea (2-5), Sporting de Lisboa (0-3) y Tottenham (2-5) reciben en casa al Real Madrid, el Paris Saint-Germain, el sorprendente Bodo/Glimt y el Atlético de Madrid, respectivamente, con mucho trabajo por delante, a raíz de los pésimos rendimientos que mostraron la semana pasada. El quinto, el Liverpool, solo está un gol abajo del Galatasaray de Turquía.

Las otras excepciones a la regla serán el Arsenal (1-1) y el FC Barcelona (1-1), dos conjuntos que sufrieron mucho de visitante y que rescataron empates gracias a penales dudosos agónicos. Para el Bayer Leverkusen y el Newcastle las cartas ya están echadas, y cuando visiten el Emirates Stadium y el Camp Nou, tendrán poco o nada que perder.

Ya no existe el desempate por goles de visitante, así que las cuentas son más claras: si hay empate en el global, se define en tiempo suplementario de 30 minutos (dos tiempos de 15) y, en caso de continuar, penales.
