SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Arian Eteghaei, a 23-year-old former UCSB student, received multiple charges for sexual crimes after a three-month trial, according to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office.

A jury returned guilty verdicts against Eteghaei for forcible sexual penetration, misdemeanor domestic violence and forcible rape against two victims, according to the SBCDAO.

These charges included crimes committed against more than one victim though jurors could not reach a verdict on 14 other counts, according to the SBCDAO.

Eteghaei faces a sentencing of 30 years to life in state prison scheduled for April 8 later this year. He remains in custody pending sentencing and is remanded without bail, according to the SBCDAO.

(CNN) — President Donald Trump celebrated the first anniversary of his return to office with many of the false claims he told most frequently during that year.

During a meandering address to reporters at the White House and a subsequent question-and-answer session, Trump sought to tout the progress the US has made since his inauguration in January 2025. But he peppered his remarks with fictional economic figures, familiar false claims about foreign and domestic affairs, his usual lie about the 2020 election he lost fair and square, and a variety of other inaccuracies.

Here is a fact check of some of his remarks.

The economy and taxes

Gas prices: Trump made a false claim about gas prices, saying, “I guess the average now, they’re saying, is $2.31.” Trump didn’t explain who “they” might be, but the national average gas price on Tuesday was about $2.82 per gallon, according to data published by AAA.

Trump also said, “They have places in the country now, $1.99 a gallon. $1.99!” This needs context. On Tuesday, there was no state with an average gas price below $2 per gallon, according to the AAA data; the lowest average in any state was about $2.31 per gallon, in Oklahoma. There were some individual gas stations selling gas for under $2 per gallon, but a tiny percentage of the total. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for the firm GasBuddy, told CNN just prior to Trump’s remarks that the firm found fewer than 100 stations across the country below $2 on Tuesday (aside from special discounts) out of the roughly 150,000 stations the firm tracks.

Prescription drug prices: Trump repeated his false claim that agreements he secured under his “Most Favored Nation” policy on prescription drugs are deals “to slash drug prices by as much as 300, 400, 500, and even 600%.” While Trump has secured some deals for price reductions, covering a small fraction of drugs sold in the US, these “300, 400, 500 and even 600%” figures are debunked by math itself; if the president magically got drug companies to reduce the prices of all of their drugs to $0, that would be a 100% c

Under a quarter inch of rain is expected with some areas getting little to no rain at all - though brief thunderstorms are possible.

Donald Trump ha acusado al Reino Unido de actuar con “estupidez” por su plan de ceder la propiedad de las islas Chagos, incluida la base aérea estadounidense de Diego García, a Mauricio.

“De manera sorprendente, nuestro ‘brillante’ aliado de la OTAN, el Reino Unido, está planeando actualmente regalar la isla de Diego García… SIN NINGUNA RAZÓN. No hay duda de que China y Rusia han tomado nota de este acto de debilidad total”, escribió Trump la madrugada del martes en Truth Social.

La repentina oposición de Trump al plan sobre las islas Chagos ha reavivado un intenso debate en Reino Unido, pese a que el propio mandatario había elogiado el acuerdo el año pasado como un “logro monumental”.

Las islas Chagos forman un archipiélago ubicado en el centro del océano Índico, a más de 1.000 millas (1.600 kilómetros) al noreste de Mauricio. Reino Unido tomó control de las islas junto con Mauricio en 1814, bajo el Tratado de París, tras la derrota de Napoleón.

En 1965, un acuerdo de la Guerra Fría entre Estados Unidos y Reino Unido separó las islas Chagos de Mauricio, manteniendo el control del archipiélago y rebautizándolo como el Territorio Británico del océano Índico.
