“Santa Claus es muy buena persona”, le dice el presidente Donald Trump, con traje y corbata dorada, a Jasper en Tulsa. “Queremos asegurarnos de que no se infiltre, de que no estemos infiltrando en nuestro país a un Santa Claus malo. Así que descubrimos que Santa Claus es bueno. Santa Claus te quiere. Santa Claus quiere a Oklahoma, como yo. Sabes que Oklahoma me trató muy bien en las elecciones. Así que yo quiero a Oklahoma. No te vayas nunca de Oklahoma, ¿de acuerdo?”

“No se enojará”, responde Trump, después de pedirle a Savannah que repita su pregunta. “Pero creo que se decepcionará mucho. Sabes, Santa Claus suele ser un poco angelical. ¿Sabes lo que significa angelical? Un poco pesado”.

Otra mirada a la primera dama, absorta en la conversación.

El ejército está rastreando a Santa Claus sobre Suecia, le informa el general a Trump.

“Así que Santa Claus tiene un buen viaje para llegar a tu parte del mundo”, le dice a Amelia en Kansas. “Dentro de cinco horas, Santa Claus bajará por tu chimenea”.

Amelia está preocupada por el carbón en su calcetín.

Papá Noel está ahora sobre Copenhague.

Melania Trump ha colgado el teléfono.

(CNN) — The phone rings. Would your 10-year-old like to speak with the president? He’s tracking Santa Claus from his living room in Palm Beach.

“Santa is a very good person,” President Donald Trump, in a suit and gold tie, tells Jasper in Tulsa. “We want to make sure that he’s not infiltrated, that we’re not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa. So we found out that Santa is good. Santa loves you. Santa loves Oklahoma, like I do. You know Oklahoma was very good to me in the election. So I love Oklahoma. Don’t ever leave Oklahoma, okay?”

Okay, Jasper says.

Next one, general.

Trump is speaking to children whose calls to NORAD to track Santa have been patched through to Mar-a-Lago. It’s a presidential tradition.

“I figure you should hear all of this,” he tells his audience of reporters, who are watching from beside the Venetian silk panels and Romanesque columns at Trump’s gilded Florida resort. His speakerphone is on, but his wife’s is not.

“She’s very focused. The first lady’s very focused,” he said, peering around the Christmas tree to where Melania Trump is sitting, receiver to ear.

She doesn’t look up.

“I think it’s best if they go to sleep,” the first lady says into her receiver, with her back to the president. “And then Santa will arrive to your house.”

“She’s able to focus totally without listening to this,” the president says. “At least you know what’s happening.”

An 8-year-old in North Carolina is next.

“You sound so beautiful and cute! You sound so smart,” the president tells Savannah, who is wondering: “Will Santa ever get mad if we don’t leave him out any cookies?”

“He won’t get mad,” Trump replies, after asking Savannah to repeat her question. “But I think he’ll be very disappointed. You know, Santa, he tends to be a little bit on the cherubic side. You know what cherubic means? A little on the heavy side.”

Another glance over to the first lady, engrossed in conversation.

“This way you can hear what’s going on. I think it’s a little bit better,” he says, pointing to his speakerphone. “One-sided calls are never good, but they’re less much less dangerous.”

The military is tracking Santa over Sweden, the general informs Trump.

“So Santa’s got quite a trip to get to your part of the world,” he tells Amelia in Kansas. “Five hours from now, Santa will be coming down your chimney.”

Amelia is worried about coal in her stocking.

“You mean clean, beautiful coal?” Trump asks. “I had to do that, I’m sorry.”

Next one, general. The line is quiet.

“You like the room everybody? No ceiling height problem,” the president says to fill the silence, glancing up toward the gold-leaf coffering. “Hey general?”

A five-year-old in Pennsylvania is standing by.

“Pennsylvania is great. We won Pennsylvania actually, three times, but we won Pennsylvania. We won it in a landslide. So I love Pennsylvania,” Trump declares.

Santa is now above Copenhagen.

“Could do this all day long,” the president proclaims. “We have to get back to China, Russia, Ukraine. We have to get back to other things, but this, you could do this all day long. Okay, general, we’re ready.”

Melania Trump has hung up her phone.

“How are you doing, first lady?” the president asks from across the room.

“I’m waiting for a phone call,” she replies.

Dieciocho estados con mayoría demócrata y la ciudad de Washington presentaron una demanda el martes para impugnar una nueva política del Gobierno Trump que busca prohibir la atención a personas transgénero menores de edad en hospitales financiados con fondos federales.

La nueva propuesta y la batalla legal que ha generado constituyen el último frente en la batalla por los derechos y la atención médica de las personas transgénero.

La última propuesta del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos se centra en la prestación de atención hospitalaria basada en la identidad de género a menores transgénero. At 254 PM PST, Numerous flash floods, mud slides, and rock slides
have been reported. This is a dangerous flooding situation in Los
Angeles County. Even where rain has become lighter in intensity,
flooding will likely continue and additional rainfall could worsen
the flooding.

Additionally, there is the possibility for the Santa Clara River at
Piru to exceed minor flood stage this evening. While uncertain, if
the river were to flood, then flooding along Torrey Road bridge
would become hazardous. Other smaller creeks, rivers, and streams
across the warning area will also have the potential to experience
flooding.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding. Rock slides and mud slides.

enforcement.

IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Mud
slides and rock slides.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Simi Valley, Fillmore, Acton, Ojai, Wrightwood, Santa Clarita,
Chatsworth, Northridge, Woodland Hills, Van Nuys, Encino, North
Hollywood, Burbank, Universal City, Beverly Hills, Hollywood,
Griffith Park, Lancaster, Palmdale and Pasadena.
Avoid flooded roads. Be aware of rock slides, mudslides, and
possibly debris flows.

The first round of rain and wind from our powerful Christmas storm is done. The next blast of Pacific moisture will is following quickly on the first round's heals. Most of the region has either lost the Flood Warning or will as the night progresses. However, the region will hold on to a widespread Flood Watch through at least Friday afternoon. This means that as the next expected waves of rain move through, The National Weather Service will assess the situation frequently and upgrade any watches, wind or rain, to a warning level if need be. This would include thunderstorm development as that can lead to very high rainfall rates, strong wind or tornadoes and of course, lightning and thunder. We do see thunderstorm chances mixed in with the steady rain and wind through at least Friday afternoon. We have already received multiple inches of rainfall and an additional 1 to 3 inches plus are possible through early Saturday.

Fortunately, Saturday should lead to a drying out period for Sunday and in to the last few days of 2025. Temperatures will cool a bit for the overnights as the southerly flow is replaced with a more zonal or westerly flow. But, more sunshine means warmer afternoon highs with most areas pushing the mid 60's just before mid week or New Years. A tricky area of low pressure is expected to drift up from the south toward New Years Eve and could bring some light rain. We will need a couple more days to get a good eye on what that will ultimately bring. For now, we will focus on our current Atmospheric River storm parade and try to stay dry.
