¿Quién es el “Monstruo Mexicano” al que Jake Paul no quiere enfrentar?

Kraig Pakulski 0 68 Article rating: No rating

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu participates in a joint news conference with US President Donald Trump in the White House on September 29

Tel Aviv (CNN) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a $35 billion gas deal with Egypt on Wednesday evening as the US pushes for a summit between the leaders of the two countries.

In a televised statement, Netanyahu hailed the agreement as “the largest gas deal in Israel’s history.” He said the deal was valued at 112 billion shekels (approx. $34.6 billion).

The deal involves American energy company Chevron and will supply gas to Egypt.

“This deal greatly strengthens Israel’s status as a regional energy power and contributes to stability in our region. It encourages other companies to invest in gas exploration in Israel’s economic waters,” said Netanyahu.

According to an Israeli source familiar with the matter, Israel had delayed the official approval of the deal for months, ultimately folding under pressure from the Trump administration.

US President Donald Trump has been trying to arrange a summit between Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as he pursues regional peace deals and an expansion of the Abraham Accords.

The Egyptian government has not yet issued an official comment on the announcement. CNN has contacted the country’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for further details on the deal.

Israel and Egypt signed a landmark peace agreement in 1979, but the leaders of the countries have not met in more than a decade.

A second Israeli source said the announcement from Netanyahu was part of an effort to lay the groundwork for a potential meeting between Netanyahu and Sisi.

Netanyahu is set to travel to the United States later this month to meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

Netanyahu was briefly set to attend the peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt in October with Trump before suddenly backing out.

Egypt has played a key role in mediation efforts throughout the Gaza war, but relations between Netanyahu and Sisi have long been frayed.

First case of measles detected in San Luis Obispo County since 2018

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – On Wednesday, the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department confirmed the first case of measles detected in the County since 2018.

The risk of transmission remains is considered low and no additional cases have been identified at this point shared the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department in a press release Wednesday.

"This case is a stark reminder that measles, though declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, can still reappear when vaccination rates decline," explained County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein. "Measles is one of the most contagious viruses known, and the best protection is to be vaccinated against the disease."

According to the County Health Department, the person who contracted measles traveled internationally and residents are advised to consider an early dose of the measles-mumps-rubella MMR vaccine for infants 6 to 12 months of age or a second MMR dose one month after the first dose for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers before traveling.

As of Dec. 8 of this year, confirmed measles cases have been reported in 13 California counties, and a total of 1,958 cases have been reported nationwide as of Dec. 16.

"Even one measles case demands a strong response," Dr. Borenstein shared. "Our public health team is working to notify anyone who may have been exposed and to reinforce vaccination awareness."

Measles, also known as rubeola, is spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes and it can linger for up to an hour after exiting an infected person.

Symptoms of the once-common childhood disease usually appear 7 to 21 days after exposure and begin with high fever, cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes shared the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department.

Within days of the first signs of an infection, tiny white spots may appear inside of the person's mouth followed by a rash of tiny red spots on the skin, first on the face and then on the rest of the body detailed the County-wide health agency.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department, people with measles are usually contagious for nine days and if symptoms develop, community members should stay home and call their healthcare provider to avoid spreading the disease.

Complications can be serious for vulnerable groups, especially infants, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems added the public health agency.

The San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department recommends the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine which is 97 percent effective after two doses:

  • Children: First dose at 12–15 months and the second dose at 4–6 years of age
  • Adults: Those born after 1957 are encouraged to get two doses of the MMR vaccine

Why the distinction for people born before 1957?

According to the Mayo Clinic, those born or living in the United States before 1957 are likely to be immune because of previous exposure to the disease.

Judge blocks ICE policy restricting congressional oversight visits

Kraig Pakulski 0 92 Article rating: No rating

By Angélica Franganillo Díaz, CNN

(CNN) — A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked US Immigration and Customs Enforcement from enforcing new rules limiting congressional oversight visits, finding that Democratic lawmakers are likely to succeed in their claim that the policy violates federal law governing congressional access to detention facilities.

Judge Jia M. Cobb granted lawmakers’ request to stay the policy, finding that ICE’s oversight visit rules are “contrary to law and in excess of DHS’s statutory authority.” The rules, Cobb said, unlawfully prevent members of Congress from conducting unannounced oversight visits while litigation proceeds.

Twelve Democratic members of the US House of Representatives, led by Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse, sued ICE and the Department of Homeland Security in DC federal court over a policy requiring members of Congress to provide seven days notice before visiting certain ICE facilities and restricting access to specific sites.

In her ruling, Cobb said ICE’s policies had resulted in lawmakers being “barred from entering facilities” to which they are entitled access under federal law, describing the restriction as a “tangible harm” that interferes with Congress’ oversight role.

The lawmakers argue that unannounced inspections are a critical tool for monitoring detention conditions and enforcement practices, and that the restrictions violate both constitutional separation of powers principles and federal statutes protecting legislative oversight.

ICE and DHS have defended the policy as necessary to maintain operational security and safety at facilities, while still permitting congressional oversight under structured conditions.

The case raises broader questions about the balance of power between Congress and the executive branch.

The government is expected to appeal.

Senators demand AG Pam Bondi recuse herself from Warner Bros. antitrust review

Kraig Pakulski 0 78 Article rating: No rating

By Brian Stelter, CNN

(CNN) — Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said Wednesday that the regulatory review of Warner’s deal with Netflix has begun, even as Paramount mounts a hostile takeover bid.

Two senators are now coming forward and pressing Attorney General Pam Bondi to recuse herself from the review of the deal.

Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal say the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN’s parent, has been “surrounded by a cesspool of corruption and political favoritism.”

And “the corruption concerns related to this deal extend to your office,” the senators asserted in a letter to Bondi on Wednesday.

The letter, obtained by CNN, noted that Bondi’s previous employer, the lobbying firm Ballard Partners, has been hired by both Paramount and Netflix as the companies seek Trump administration approval.

Disclosure forms indicate that Ballard has been representing Paramount all year long and has been working with Netflix since March.

“The DOJ already faces allegations that Ballard has inappropriately influenced the Trump Administration’s antitrust enforcement decisions,” Warren and Blumenthal wrote.

When asked about the senators’ push for recusal, DOJ spokesperson Gates McGavick told CNN, “All officials at the Department of Justice follow the guidance of career ethics officials.”

While Bondi is likely to ignore the Democratic demands, the episode underscores the political tensions behind a review process that could reshape the media and entertainment landscape.

The outcome of the review will determine not only the future ownership of WBD’s assets, but also whether the Trump administration can credibly claim the process was free from political favoritism.

President Trump has said that he’ll be “involved” in the decision, despite a long history of past presidents leaving antitrust reviews to Justice Department experts.

A DOJ spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that Bondi and antitrust division chief Gail Slater would lead the review, which gave Warren and Blumenthal an opening to raise ethical concerns.

Bondi bristled at an October hearing when Blumenthal probed a connection between Ballard’s clients and the Justice Department’s actions. “I have abided by every ethics standard,” she said.

Already, numerous lawmakers in both parties have raised concerns about the implications of the media consolidation that either Warner Bros. deal would represent.

Warren has called the Netflix deal an “anti-monopoly nightmare” and the Paramount proposal a “five-alarm antitrust fire.”

Some Democrats in the House have also warned that if their party prevails in the midterm elections next year, they could push for divestitures, “which would undermine the strategic logic of this merger.”

On the Republican side of the aisle, Sen. Mike Lee has predicted an “intense antitrust hearing” over the Netflix deal.

Netflix has asserted that its takeover of Warner Bros. would be “pro-consumer, pro-innovation, pro-creator and pro-growth,” offering audiences and creators “even more choice, value and opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Paramount continues to urge shareholders to accept its $30-per-share takeover offer for all of WBD, including CNN.

Paramount’s leadership team has been both credited and criticized for forging close ties to the Trump administration.

Warren and Blumenthal wrote on Wednesday that those “aggressive efforts to curry favor with the president” have tainted the Warner bidding process with “the appearance of corruption.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the WBD board urged shareholders to reject Paramount’s bid. Zaslav said in a memo to WBD staffers, “We continue to have a s
