Madrid, Spain (CNN) — 50-50. With just over two years to go, a coinflip is the chance Simone Biles has put on competing at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The most decorated gymnast of all-time has previously stated she’ll be at the Games in “some capacity.”

Now in an interview with CNN Sports, Biles has offered a glimmer of hope to millions of fans around the world hoping to see her take to the floor for one last dance.

“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now it’s almost half of 2026,” the 29-year-old says speaking at the recent Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.

“We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”

The 11-time Olympic medalist is currently taking a break from the sport to, as she puts it, allow her body to recover. She hopes to begin doing some Pilates and yoga soon but stresses “that’s as far as I got right now.”

What then is the key consideration for Biles as she weighs up a potential fourth appearance at the summer Games?

“Mental health plays a big role in it because, physically, my coaches will get me in shape,” she explains.

“I can get myself in shape. We believe in that ability. We’re really thankful that I’m still healthy.

“Mental is a huge thing and it’s a lot of dedication on that because the road’s not easy. It’s long, but it’s still work.”

Realness and rawness

Biles has openly and honestly shared her struggles with mental health since taking time away from gymnastics following the tumult of the Tokyo Olympics.

There, a mental block known as “the twisties” forced her to withdraw from multiple events, including the women’s team final.

It’s a moment she reflects on as being “pivotal” – not only for her, but the wider conversation both within sports and everyday life.

“I feel like it showed the realness to me because everyone thought I was a robot, she’s not real, but it’s like, down to the core, I’m just like you guys. I’m real,” she says candidly.

“It got me the therapy that I deserved, and I’m still currently in therapy.

“I had a lot of help and my core group was really helpful in letting me know that it’s OK people go through this and you’re just human.

“Gymnasts aren’t viewed as people who have weaknesses, and that was the first time that weakness was displayed on a global stage like that.

“Now, I look at it as being courageous and not so much a weakness.”

Dos personas han sido apuñaladas en Golders Green, al norte de Londres, según un grupo local de vigilancia vecinal judío, en medio de una serie de ataques antisemitas dirigidos contra la comunidad judía de Londres.

Según un equipo de CNN presente en el lugar, un hombre fue detenido y varios vehículos de los servicios de emergencia, incluyendo una ambulancia y un helicóptero policial, se encuentran en la escena.

Según la organización benéfica local Shomrim, que ofrece vigilancia vecinal y respuesta a emergencias, el hombre fue visto corriendo por Golders Green Road armado con un cuchillo e intentando apuñalar a ciudadanos judíos. Shomrim añadió que actuó de inmediato y que la policía utilizó una pistola Taser al llegar al lugar.

Para cuando CNN llegó a la zona, la policía ya había acordonado amplios tramos de la carretera.

Un vídeo que circulaba en las redes sociales parecía mostrar a un hombre siendo detenido por varios agentes de policía, así como a dos hombres vestidos de civil.

La comunidad judía de Londres ha sido blanco de una oleada de ataques antisemitas en las últimas semanas. El mes pasado, unos pirómanos incendiaron cuatro ambulancias pertenecientes a una organización benéfica judía en Golders Green, al norte de Londres. Posteriormente, la policía presentó cargos contra cuatro personas .

Semanas después, una sinagoga y el antiguo local de una organización benéfica judía, ambos en el norte de Londres, fueron atacados.

Estados Unidos y varios aliados de la región emitieron un comunicado conjunto en apoyo a la soberanía de Panamá frente a lo que denominaron la “presión económica selectiva de China” y dijeron que cualquier intento de socavarla es una amenaza para todos los firmantes.

“La libertad de nuestra región no es negociable”, indica el texto publicado por el Departamento de Estado de EE.UU. y firmado también por Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guyana, Paraguay, y Trinidad y Tobago.

Los países indicaron que la presión económica de Beijing y la detención de buques con bandera panameña en puertos chinos son “un intento flagrante de politizar el comercio marítimo y vulnerar la soberanía de las naciones de nuestro hemisferio”.

El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de China ha calificado las denuncias estadounidenses sobre este tema como “acusaciones infundadas”. Este miércoles, un vocero de la Cancillería instó a los países involucrados a “no dejarse engañar ni explotar por fuerzas malévolas”.

La vía interoceánica, por donde transita alrededor del 40 por ciento del tráfico anual de contenedores de Estados Unidos, es un punto clave de la estrategia de Washington de contrarrestar la influencia de China en la región en el marco de la disputa geopolítica de las potencias.

A fines de enero, la Corte Suprema de Justicia de Panamá dejó firme un fallo que anuló el contrato con Panama Ports Company (PPC), que operaba en dos puertos en ambos extremos del Canal con gran parte de capital chino. Beijing dijo que el Gobierno del país caribeño pagaría “un alto precio político y económico” si no cambiaba su postura.

“Nos solidarizamos con Panamá”, señaló el comunicado conjunto del lunes. “A través de nuestro renovado compromiso con la paz, la seguridad y la cooperación hemisférica, seguimos dedicados a enfrentar todas las amenazas para garantizar que las Américas sigan siendo una región de libertad, seguridad y prosperidad”, agregó.

London (CNN) — Two people have been stabbed in a Jewish neighborhood of north London, according to a local Jewish security group.

A man has been detained, according to a CNN team on the ground in Golders Green, and several emergency service vehicles, including an ambulance and police helicopter, are attending the scene.

The man was “seen running along Golders Green Road armed with a knife and attempting to stab Jewish members of the public,” according to the local charity security group Shomrim, which provides local neighborhood watch and emergency responses. Shomrim added that it responded immediately, and that police deployed a taser once they attended.

The Metropolitan Police declined to immediately comment to CNN.

Large swathes of the road had been cordoned off by police by the time CNN reached the area.

And video circulating on social media appeared to show a man being detained by several police officers as well as two men in plain clothes.

Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer told parliament that the incident was “deeply concerning.”

“We all need to… be absolutely clear in our determination to deal with any of these offences, the like of which we’ve seen too much recently,” he added.

London’s Jewish community has been targeted by a wave of antisemitic attacks in recent weeks. Last month, arsonists set fire to four ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity in Golders Green, north London. Four people were subsequently charged by police.

Then, weeks later, a synagogue and the former premises of a Jewish charity, both in north London, were attacked.

Another prominent Jewish organization – the Board of Deputies of British Jews – confirmed the attack had taken place and said they were working with the police “to understand what has happened and ensure a forceful response.”

Uno de los cruces o “crossovers” más famosos de los comics será llevado al cine: según un reporte de Variety, Brian Helgeland escribirá el guion de una película basada en la popular historieta del Zorro y Django.

El Zorro es el popular héroe enmascarado creado por el escritor Johnston McCulley en 1919, que, desde su aparición como personaje literario, dio el salto al cine y a la TV en decenas de títulos, siendo el más reciente la serie de Prime Video de 2024 protagonizada por el español Miguel Bernardeau.

Y Django es un personaje de películas de vaqueros que apareció por primera vez en el western italiano “Django” en 1966, pero que es recordado por la película “Django Unchained”, de 2012, dirigida por Quentin Tarantino y protagonizada por Jamie Foxx en el papel principal.

La nueva película estará basada en el cómic “Django Zorro” de 2014, cocreado por Quentin Tarantino junto con Matt Wagner. Se desconocen los detalles de la trama, aunque de seguro mantendrá la premisa de la historieta, en la que el cazarrecompensas Django forma una alianza con el justiciero enmascarado Zorro en la California del siglo XIX.

El reporte de Variety no menciona si Foxx volverá a interpretar a Django en esta adaptación ni si Antonio Banderas volverá a encarnar al Zorro, personaje al que dio vida en dos películas, “The Mask of Zorro” (1998) y “The Legend of Zorro” (2005).

Sony Pictures, a cargo del proyecto, no ha anunciado quién será el director de la película, que cuenta con la aprobación de Tarantino, según un reporte del sitio web de cine The Playlist.
