(CNN) — The red carpet at this year’s Golden Globe Awards is awash with black gowns and Old Hollywood glamour — and Selena Gomez brought both.

The singer and actor was a picture of elegance as she arrived at the Beverly Hilton hotel in a Chanel dress that took the French label over 320 hours to make.

Embellished with about 200 embroidered elements, the custom bustier dress blossomed with feathers, silk chiffon and silk organza. The strapless design meanwhile dipped into a V shape at the back, revealing Gomez’s rose tattoo.

She completed the look with Chanel jewelry — including huge diamond-encrusted earrings and several rings — and a pair of black slingbacks only visible as she lifted the floor-length dress to walk along the red carpet.

Nominated (for the fourth consecutive year) for her performance in “Only Murders in the Building,” Gomez also sported glamorous bob hairstyle, black nail polish and classic red lipstick.

She was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, who wore a black suit with an unbuttoned shirt and statement brooch. He, too, sparkled with diamonds — and a pair of bejeweled loafers.

Gomez has often turned to Chanel for its women’s tailoring, including the tweed skirt she wore to the Academy Women’s Luncheon in 2024 and the navy two-piece she sported at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

Washington (CNN) — Federal prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into the Federal Reserve’s $2.5 billion renovation of its headquarters in Washington, DC.

In an extraordinary video posted by Powell on Sunday night, he called the investigation “pretext” resulting from his ongoing struggle with the administration over interest rates, saying it was a consequence of broader “threats and ongoing pressure” by the administration.

“The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President,” Powell said in a statement late Sunday.

“This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation.”

Justice Department spokesperson Chad Gilmartin declined to comment on the investigation, but said in a statement to CNN that the attorney general wants to “prioritize investigating any abuse of tax payer dollars.”

Trump and his allies have repeatedly slammed Powell over the past year for not cutting interest rates to the president’s liking. The Fed in the second half of last year lowered rates three times in row, though officials have recently said they’re unlikely to lower rates again for a while.

Trump’s pressure campaign has included a barrage of personal insults at Powell and an ongoing effort to oust Fed Governor Lisa Cook, appointed by then-President Joe Biden. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments later this month on whether Trump can fire Cook.

Fiscales federales abrieron una investigación penal sobre la renovación de US$ 2.500 millones de la sede de la Reserva Federal en Washington.

Another perfect sun splashed day as offshore winds hold firm over the entire region. We still have a few areas in Ventura County under Wind Advisory criteria which means gust up to and even above 40 mph are possible in to early Monday. Overnight lows will be chilly, especially in wind protected areas where temps could fall in to the 30's. Highs on Monday will mirror what we we saw today with a few degrees likely added on. This means temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60's and 70's. Winds should stay mostly in the light to moderate speed range and vary between offshore direction early and then turn more onshore as the day progresses.

Looking ahead, high pressure will keep the offshore flow going even though the winds will likely weaken as we head in to the new work week. We could see readings running about 10 to 15 degrees plus above normal by mid week. Records for this time of year are mostly in the upper 80's to low 90's, which means that we could see some areas getting close to or beating their old records. As we head toward next weekend, the offshore flow is expected to weaken and allow the southwesterly onshore flow cool things down. Cloud cover will also increase and low level fog will return, but we do not see any real threats for a return of any wet weather at this time.
