Kyiv (CNN) — Russia launched one of its largest ballistic missile attacks against Ukraine since the war began overnight into Sunday, according to authorities.

Ukraine’s air force said Moscow had launched “a massive combined strike against Ukraine using attack UAVs and various types of air- and ground-launched missiles,” and that the main target was the capital Kyiv.

CNN journalists in the city reported hearing explosions throughout the night. On Sunday morning there was a strong smell of smoke in the city, one said.

“The enemy launched more than 40 missiles of various types – most of them against the capital – and 120 attack drones,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Andriy Sybiha, acting minister of foreign affairs, said Russia had launched “around four dozen” missiles traveling on a ballistic trajectory, describing it as the “largest number of ballistic missiles since the start of the war.”

Air defenses had “shot down or neutralized 126 targets, including 18 missiles and 108 unmanned aerial vehicles,” the air force said.

One person had been killed and 16 wounded in Kyiv, according to the emergency services.

OXNARD, Calif. (KEYT) The Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation is teaching the next generation of sailors.

The Ventura County nonprofit began in 1992.

It still has some openings for the remaining weeks of summer camps in the Channel Islands Harbor.

The sailors get hands on experience on the water and on the PCYC dock.

The Pacifc Corinthian Yacht Club  is also gearing up for the annual McNish Classic Yacht race next Saturday.

El alcalde de la ciudad de Nueva York, Zohran Mamdani, dijo que su oficina todavía está considerando arrestar a Benjamin Netanyahu si el primer ministro israelí visita la ciudad para la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en septiembre.

Hablando en el podcast “The Interview” de The New York Times, Mamdani dijo que el departamento legal de su administración está discutiendo activamente el posible arresto de Netanyahu, algo que prometió perseguir durante su campaña.

“Creo que el primer ministro Netanyahu pertenece a La Haya”, dijo Mamdani. “Es un criminal de guerra que ha sido acusado por la Corte Penal Internacional. Y lo que verán es que esa es una opinión que comparten muchos, simplemente por lo que sus acciones han provocado en estos últimos años”.

Cuando se le preguntó qué creía que la ley le permitía hacer, Mamdani respondió: “Esa es una conversación activa con nuestro departamento legal. Sin embargo, lo que hemos visto a nivel nacional es un deseo, a veces, de escribir tus propias leyes, de ir más allá de los límites de la legalidad. Eso no es algo que nos interese”.

La CPI emitió una orden de arresto contra Netanyahu y otros líderes israelíes en 2024, acusándolos de crímenes de guerra durante y después de los ataques de Hamas a Israel el 7 de octubre de 2023. El presidente Donald Trump y el expresidente Joe Biden han denunciado la orden de la CPI.

Estados Unidos no ha ratificado el Estatuto de Roma, que obliga a los países a arrestar a personas que tengan órdenes de la CPI en su contra. La administración Trump ha intensificado su larga batalla contra la CPI, y el secretario de Estado Marco Rubio prometió recientemente “desmantelar” el tribunal y lo acusó de “librar una guerra contra nuestro país, no con balas ni misiles” sino con “la fuerza del llamado derecho internacional”.

Mamdani es un crítico feroz del Gobierno israelí y ha criticado repetidamente la guerra de Israel en Gaza calificándola de “genocidio”. Israel niega esas acusaciones.

El embajador de Estados Unidos ante las Naciones Unidas, Mike Waltz, calificó el sábado los comentarios del alcalde como “puro teatro político” y señaló que Estados Unidos no es miembro de la CPI.

En una entrevista con el locutor de radio de WABC, Sid Rosenberg, a principios de la semana, Netanyahu desestimó las preocupaciones sobre los llamados de Mamdani para su arresto.

El embajador de Israel ante las Naciones Unidas, Danny Danon, dijo el sábado en las redes sociales que Netanyahu “vendrá a Nueva York, se dirigirá con orgullo a la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas y se presentará ante el mundo para exponer la verdad de Israel y su inquebrantable derecho a defender a sus ciudadanos”.

Entries are pouring in for the exhibits that include photography, fine arts, home arts and more.

Participants signed up in advance.

The fair runs from July, 29 to. Aug. 9.

In addition to exhibits the fair includes a concert series, rodeo, rides, games and plenty of family-friendly things to see and do.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) Wine lovers from far and wide toasted the 23rd California Wine Festival with souvenir glasses.

The festival took place at Chase Palm Park Oceanside on Saturday

Organizers call it the California Wine Festival's signature event.

It features local wine, cheese, chocolate and BBQ, too.

"The runner up this year is oak and fire and the champion of best tri tip of he 805 is  craft wood fireed catering they don't even know yet but we re going to announce it to them soon. And we hope everyone will be back next year, same weekend the third weekend in July until i am too old to do it, "said California Wine Festival Executive Director Emily Kaufmann.

"Every year I go to all of them multiple locations and this is my favorite one," said Adusea Irumundomon, "The scenery the people and of course the wine and yes especially the people they are very friendly here."

Saturday's tasting followed an evening event at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort on Friday night.

The weather made Saturday's tasting so nice that people didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave.
