(CNN) — A CNN analysis of video appears to show a federal immigration officer removing a gun from Alex Pretti just prior to officers fatally shooting him.

Video shows one officer reaching into the scrum of other officers seeking to restrain Pretti and retrieving a weapon that appears to match the firearm the Department of Homeland Security says Pretti possessed.

Officers can be heard shouting “he’s got a gun” when the unidentified officer reaches into Pretti’s waistband as the pile of officers try to subdue him. Just over one second after the officer emerges holding the weapon, a shot rings out, followed by at least 9 more, according to videos.

The videos show that the officer who retrieved the weapon had nothing in his hand prior to approaching Pretti. It is unclear from the videos reviewed by CNN whether the officer who took the weapon from Pretti told the others once he had taken it away. It is also unclear which agent first fired at Pretti.

In a statement, DHS claimed that an officer fired on Pretti, 37, while fearing for his life: “The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted…Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots.”

At no point in any of the videos reviewed by CNN can Pretti be seen wielding a weapon; he is seen carrying a cellphone in one hand earlier in the encounter.

The Minneapolis police chief said Pretti was believed to be a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

El frío y las lluvias invernales, así como la desnutrición, siguen causando muertes en Gaza, a pesar de que el alto el fuego ya lleva cuatro meses.

Diez niños en Gaza han muerto por hipotermia desde el comienzo del invierno, informó este sábado el Ministerio de Salud palestino. Un bebé de tres meses murió por frío severo en el hospital Mártires de Al Aqsa en las últimas 24 horas, indicó el ministerio.

Cuando bajan las temperaturas, “el grupo más afectado son los niños”, dijo a CNN a principios de este mes el Dr. Ahmad Al Faraa, jefe del departamento de pediatría del Complejo Médico Nasser en Khan Younis.

“Su tejido graso es limitado, la superficie responsable de la pérdida de calor es mayor y sus reservas de energía son bajas. Los más frágiles entre los niños son los prematuros y los recién nacidos con bajo peso al nacer”, explicó Al Faraa.

“Cientos de miles de personas permanecen en campamentos de desplazados y expuestas a las frías y lluviosas condiciones invernales”, informó el viernes la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas para la Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios. Añadió que los fuertes vientos habían dañado cientos de tiendas de campaña en la última semana.

La crisis humanitaria en Gaza sigue siendo grave a pesar del actual alto el fuego.
“Temperaturas en picada, viento, lluvia e inundaciones. El invierno sigue agravando la miseria de la población en el asediado enclave, donde la gran mayoría permanece desplazada por la fuerza y vive en tiendas de campaña y edificios semiderruidos”, dijo Philippe Lazzarini, jefe del principal organismo de la ONU en los territorios palestinos.

“El 92 % de las viviendas dañadas o destruidas, y grandes cantidades de bombas sin explotar aún por retirar”, publicó Lazzarini en X.

En medio de intensas lluvias invernales, 24 personas han muerto después de que sus casas se derrumbaran sobre ellas, de acuerdo con el Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, director general del Ministerio de Salud.

Cuerpos debilitados por el hambre, la falta de medicamentos y el agua contaminada también han causado brotes generalizados de enfermedades, dijo Al-Barsh en una publicación de Facebook el viernes.

Está previsto que el enviado especial del presidente de EE.UU. Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, y su yerno Jared Kushner se reúnan el sábado con el primer ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, para discutir Gaza y la transición a la segunda fase de la tregua, que debería contemplar el establecimiento de una fuerza internacional de mantenimiento de la paz y el desarme de Hamas.

La desnutrición continúa afectando a las mujeres embarazadas, señaló Al Faraa. “La mayoría de los bebés nacen con bajo peso debido a la desnutrición materna durante el embarazo, especialmente en los primeros meses, así como por la ansiedad y el estrés psicológico de las madres, la ausencia de seguimiento prenatal y la falta de vitaminas y suplementos nutricionales”.

Las fuerzas israelíes siguen actuando contra supuestos militantes a lo largo de la llamada Línea Amarilla dentro de Gaza, que divide las zonas controladas por Israel de las controladas por Hamas.

Las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel dijeron este sábado que militares que operaban en el norte de Ciudad de Gaza mataron a “varios terroristas que cruzaron la Línea Amarilla, colocaron un artefacto explosivo en la zona y se acercaron a los militares”.

HARMONY, Calif. (KEYT) – In a moo-tastic outcome, crews from San Luis Obispo County Fire rescued a 5-month-old calf stuck in a steep beach cliff off the Harmony Coastline.

Around 9:30am Saturday morning, crews made their way down the cliff to the calf, who is believed to have been there over a week after missing branding. The rancher's dog was the one who found her.

The department says rescue teams used a technical rope system to safely raise the calf and rescuer.

She was given the name “Rock-Sand.”

A deep marine layer produced some spotty drizzle this morning before a light to moderate offshore flow developed which scoured out the clouds and left us with a nice day. The winds are just strong enough in Ventura County to warrant low end Wind Advisory for portions of Ventura County which last through Sunday. Wind gusts could exceed 35 mph below foothills and canyons that favor a north to northeast direction. Again, this brief Santa Ana should die out by late Sunday. As is normal with a weak offshore flow, patchy fog could develop for some wind protected areas and settle close to the ground making for reduced visibilities. Temperatures on Sunday area expected to range from the low to mid 60's for most areas with perhaps a 70 or two in the warmest areas.

Looking ahead, the new work week will start off quiet with more mild weather. A storm system will barrel in to the Pacific Northwest with the tail end dropping far enough south to maybe bring some brief light rain the Central Coast by late Tuesday. Our forecast computer sees the rain not really holding together south of the Bay Area, but a slight chance will stay in play for now. High pressure then builds over the region and we expect to see mostly clear skies and slight warming as we head in to next weekend. However, the ever active Pacific storm track will continue to be busy with systems pushing onshore well to our north. We still don't see any significant rain chances as we approach February, but mid and high level clouds will likely drift over us. If something does develop or slide farther south, we will let you know if rain chances possibly come in to play over the weekend.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – The ocean water at East Beach in Santa Barbara is now open for recreational use after a month-long water contact closure by the County of Santa Barbara Health.

Officials issued the closure on December 24th for areas 1/4-mile east to 1/8-mile west of the Mission Creek outfall following a sewage spillage after a pump bypass failure, dumping 4,500 gallons of untreated sewage during the holiday rainstorms.

An estimated 2,200 gallons made it into Mission Creek according to the County of Santa Barbara.

On Friday, the department announced ocean water quality tests have shown the area is now safe for recreational water use.
