La cantante Dolly Parton anunció el lunes en un video en Instagram que canceló su residencia de conciertos en Las Vegas debido a problemas de salud.

“Gracias por apoyarme y mostrarme tanto amor y apoyo durante el último año. Todavía tengo algo de sanación por hacer, ¡pero estoy en camino! Nos vemos pronto”, escribió la cantante de 80 años en la publicación difundida en Instagram, en la que también recordó el fallecimiento de su esposo Carl Thomas Dean en marzo de 2025.

La leyenda de la música country ya había pospuesto algunos de sus shows en Las Vegas en septiembre de 2025 tras revelar que enfrentaba algunos problemas de salud y que debía enfrentarse a “algunos procedimientos” médicos sin ofrecer más detalles.

Un mes después, no obstante, Parton compartió un video en redes sociales en los que echó por tierra los rumores sobre su malestar físico. “Quería decir que sé que últimamente todos piensan que estoy más enferma de lo que realmente estoy. ¿Acaso parezco enferma? Estoy trabajando duro aquí”, afirmó Parton mientras grababa un comercial para el show Grand Ole Opry, en Nashville, en octubre de 2025.

En el nuevo video compartido el lunes, Parton dijo: “Hola, soy Dolly, y estoy aquí para darles una actualización sobre algunas cosas que están pasando en mi vida. Primero, se trata de mi salud, y tengo buenas noticias y un poco de malas noticias. La buena noticia es que estoy respondiendo muy bien a los medicamentos y a los tratamientos, y estoy mejorando cada día. La mala noticia es que me tomará algo de tiempo estar al nivel necesario para volver a actuar en el escenario, porque algunos de los medicamentos y tratamientos me dejan un poco aturdida, como solía decir mi abuela”.

La cantante mencionó en Instagram que estos trastornos físicos se deben a cálculos renales. “Ya les he dicho antes que siempre he tenido problemas con los cálculos renales. Dios mío, me sacan más piedras al año que la cantera de roca de Rockwood, Tennessee. Pero, hablando en serio, mi sistema inmunológico y mi sistema digestivo se desajustaron por completo en los últimos dos años, y están trabajando muy duro para recuperar su fortaleza”, anunció.

Debido a ello, Parton confirmó que cancelaba la residencia en Las Vegas, que había sido reprogramada para este septiembre en el teatro The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! We start the morning with marine clouds off or near all coastline long with mid to high level clouds. Expect a partly to mostly cloudy afternoon. Highs rise into the 60s yet again. Another 20-30% chance of showers is projected today, however most beach areas will stay dry. WInds will be strong at times but only around 10-15mph prevailing. Marine waters are hazardous due to high waves and isolated showers, use caution.

More marine clouds and May gray will begin Wednesday. A fast clearing trend is expected as a ridge of high pressure builds in. Minimal clouds are in the forecast as low pressure moves away. Marine waters will calm and be safe to travel on. Highs rise into the 70s for most, a notable warming trend from the start of the week. Temperatures will jump further to end the week, stay hydrated.

We begin Thursday and Friday morning with fast clearing fog for most, clear skies for others. This is part of a drastic warming trend where temperatures skyrocket into the 70s and 80s. The May heatwave lasts through the weekend and into next week. Breezy winds may prompt wind advisories. Very dry and hot weather is ahead.

Es posible que se haya producido cierta transmisión de persona a persona a bordo del crucero afectado por un brote de hantavirus que ha dejado tres muertos y varios enfermos, informó este martes la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).

“Sabemos que algunos de los casos mantuvieron un contacto muy estrecho entre sí y, ciertamente, no se puede descartar la transmisión de persona a persona; por lo tanto, como medida de precaución, esto es lo que estamos asumiendo”, declaró a periodistas la Dra. Maria Van Kerkhove, directora de Preparación y Prevención de Epidemias y Pandemias de la OMS.

Casi 150 personas, incluidos 17 estadounidenses, permanecen varadas en el MV Hondius, que se encuentra actualmente frente a la costa de África occidental.

El barco, operado por la compañía turística Oceanwide Expeditions, zarpó el mes pasado desde Ushuaia (Argentina) en un viaje a través del océano Atlántico, haciendo escala en algunas de las islas más remotas del mundo. Sin embargo, durante la travesía, varios pasajeros enfermaron con una afección respiratoria de rápida evolución, según informó la compañía.

Hasta el momento se han identificado siete casos de hantavirus, una enfermedad poco común causada habitualmente por el contacto con la orina, las heces o la saliva de roedores infectados. Dos de estos casos están confirmados y cinco se consideran sospechosos, indicó la OMS el lunes.

Tres personas —una pareja neerlandesa y un ciudadano alemán— han fallecido, mientras que un ciudadano británico permanece en cuidados intensivos en Sudáfrica, aunque Van Kerkhove señaló que su estado de salud está mejorando.

Otras dos personas que presentan síntomas de hantavirus permanecen a bordo del barco, si bien su evacuación médica se está llevando a cabo en este momento, añadió Van Kerkhove.

“El riesgo para la población general es bajo”, subrayó Van Kerkhove. “Este no es un virus que se propague como la gripe o como el covid, es bastante diferente”.
