El presidente Donald Trump sugirió que a su Gobierno le vendría bien un “toque más suave” en sus políticas de inmigración después de que dos ciudadanos estadounidenses fueran murieran en Minneapolis a manos de agentes del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE por sus siglas en inglés).

“Me di cuenta de que tal vez nos vendría bien un toque un poco más suave, pero aún tienes que ser duro. Estos son criminales, estamos tratando con criminales realmente duros,” dijo el presidente a NBC News este miércoles.

El Trump también mencionó que la orden de que el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional retire de inmediato a 700 efectivos de Minnesota vino directamente de él.

“Sí, así fue,” dijo. “Pero, no vino de mí solo porque lo quise hacer. Tenemos, estamos esperando que ellos liberen a los prisioneros. Denos los asesinos que tienen, y a todas las personas malas, traficantes de drogas, a todas las personas malas que permitimos en nuestro país”.

“Los estamos sacando, pero ya hemos sacado a muchos de ellos”, añadió Trump durante la entrevista, alegando que el crimen había bajado en Minnesota gracias a su Gobierno.

El zar de la frontera del presidente, Tom Homan, hizo ese anuncio de retiro más temprano este miércoles en Minneapolis, donde fue enviado tras el homicidio de Alex Pretti el mes pasado.

Homan confirmó que el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS, por sus siglas en inglés) retirará a 700 agentes de Minnesota de manera inmediata.

Esta decisión marca el primer paso para reducir la presencia federal de la Operación Metro Surge, la cual desplegó a unos 3.000 efectivos en la ciudad desde principios de diciembre. Tras este movimiento, se estima que permanecerán “alrededor de 2.000” agentes en la zona.

La presencia del DHS en la región ha estado marcada por la controversia y la indignación ciudadana, especialmente tras los incidentes mortales, incluyendo el homicidio de Alex Pretti el mes pasado, que motivó el viaje de Homan a Minneapolis.

Homan fue enfático al señalar este miércoles que el objetivo final es una retirada completa, pero la condicionó a que cesen las “actividades ilegales y amenazantes” contra el personal de ICE y a una mayor cooperación con las autoridades locales.

“Deseamos volver a la dotación original de agentes de inmigración en Minnesota”, afirmó Homan, subrayando que el cronograma dependerá de la seguridad en la comunidad.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – An injured man was transported off of the San Ysidro trail by helicopter Wednesday after a fellow hiker texted in the emergency.

First responders with Montecito Fire were called to the scene around 12:25 p.m. Wednesday after a female hiker came across an injured male hiker about two miles up the San Ysidro trail shared the Montecito Fire Department.

The woman texted her husband via satellite from the scene and asked him to contact emergency responders explained the Montecito Fire Department.

Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit Helicopter 308 arrived at the scene and conducted a successful hoist operation before taking the injured man to Cottage Hospital for further medical treatment noted the Montecito Fire Department.

The extent of the man's injuries has not been shared publicly at this time.
