“The Office” es una de las franquicias más exitosas de la televisión. Y ahora está por estrenarse este este 13 de marzo la decimoséptima versión de la serie: una producción mexicana titulada “La Oficina”, ambientada en Aguascalientes.

La plataforma de streaming Prime Video emitirá “La Oficina”, que cuenta con la producción y dirección del mexicano Gaz Alazraki, creador de la serie de comedia “Club de cuervos” (2015-2017). El showrunner es Marcos Bucay y el protagonista es Fernando Bonilla, quien da vida a Jerónimo Ponce III, el incompetente gerente de la empresa.

Según el comunicado de Prime Video, la historia “se desarrolla en la oficina regional de Jabones Olimpo, ubicada en Aguascalientes, “donde un grupo de colaboradores enfrenta los retos cotidianos de trabajar en una empresa familiar. Al frente está Jerónimo Ponce III, un gerente que heredó el puesto sin contar con la experiencia necesaria, convirtiendo la rutina laboral en una sucesión de situaciones incómodas, absurdas y muy reconocibles”.

El primer tráiler de la serie revela que “La Oficina” abordará todo tipo de temas políticamente incorrectos, como el sexismo, las terapias de conversión y el casi nulo respeto y uso de palabras inclusivas en el trato de los empleados. El canal de YouTube de “La Oficina” también incluye videos cortos que revelan el humor corrosivo que propone.

Al igual que todas las versiones de “The Office”, la serie mexicana mantiene el estilo de falso documental, con un equipo de camarógrafos que registran las actividades cotidianas de los empleados en Jabones Olimpo.

La franquicia “The Office” nació de la serie homónima inglesa creada por los comediantes Ricky Gervais y Stephen Merchant, en 2001. Gervais dio vida al protagonista, David Brent, un jefe egocéntrico y nada empático con los empleados de una oficina.

De todas las versiones de “The Office”, la más exitosa y duradera de la franquicia es la estadounidense, protagonizada por Steve Carrell, que se emitió originalmente de 2005 a 2013.

“La Oficina” no es la primera versión en español de la franquicia pues en 2008 se estrenó en Chile “La Ofis”, que tuvo poco éxito.

Un documento recién descubierto en los archivos de Jeffrey Epstein socava una de las afirmaciones centrales del presidente Donald Trump sobre el asunto, específicamente, su supuesta falta de conocimiento de la mala conducta del delincuente sexual convicto.

Y no está solo.

La publicación de millones de páginas de documentos hace una semana y media ha puesto a prueba repetidamente y a veces contradicho las afirmaciones de la administración Trump sobre el contenido de los archivos, que inicialmente prometió publicar, pero luego de repente se retractó antes de que el Congreso la obligara a hacerlo.

Funcionarios de la administración, incluyendo a Trump y la secretaria de Justicia Pam Bondi, han hecho múltiples afirmaciones sobre los archivos, que posteriormente fueron desvirtuadas.

Pero con la publicación de millones de documentos el mes pasado, parece que la cifra está aumentando.

Recapitulemos.

Cuando Trump reconoció el año pasado que la cómplice de Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, había reclutado a Virginia Giuffre, una destacada víctima de Epstein, de Mar-a-Lago, afirmó que no sabía para qué.

“No, no sé realmente por qué”, afirmó Trump en julio.

Trump fue aún más firme en 2019, cuando le preguntaron si tenía alguna sospecha de que Epstein estuviera abusando de niñas menores de edad.

Un documento recién descubierto describe a Trump diciéndole a la policía a mediados de la década de 2000, poco después de que se hiciera pública la investigación sobre Epstein, que estaba contento de que lo estuvieran “deteniendo” porque “todos sabían que había estado haciendo esto”. (El documento fue reportado por primera vez por el Miami Herald).

El documento proviene de una entrevista del FBI de 2019 con un jefe de policía de Palm Beach, Florida, quien relató una conversación que tuvo con Trump alrededor de 2006.

Trump, en esa conversación, también citó una ocasión en la que estuvo cerca de Epstein y algunas adolescentes y afirmó que “salió de allí”, según el documento.

El documento también agrega que Trump fue una de las “primeras personas” en llamar al Departamento de Policía de Palm Beach cuando descubrió que habían estado investigando a Epstein.

Al ser preguntada sobre el asunto el martes, la secretaria de prensa de la Casa Blanca, Karoline Leavitt, manifestó que no podía confirmar si la llamada telefónica de 2006 se realizó.

Pero añadió que, de ser así, respaldaba las declaraciones previas de Trump de que había cortado vínculos con Epstein a principios de la década de 2000 y lo consideraba un “pervertido”.

(CNN) — Australian authorities have released a recording of the emergency call made by hero teen Austin Appelbee after he swam for hours in rough seas to get help for his family.

Austin, 13, can be heard calmly describing the situation and asking for a helicopter to search for his mother and two siblings in a recording released by the Western Australia Police Force on Wednesday.

The family had been paddleboarding and kayaking off the coast of Quindalup, Western Australia, on January 30 when they were swept out to sea.

Austin swam four kilometers (2.5 miles) to shore and then ran along the beach to reach a phone to call for help.

“Hello, my name is Austin… I have two siblings, Beau and Grace. Beau is 12 and Grace is eight,” he said.

“We got took out to sea and we got lost out there,” added Austin.

“I don’t know what time it was but it was a very long time ago,” he said. “We couldn’t get back to shore and Mum told me to go back to get help.”

“I think they’re kilometres out to sea. I think we need a helicopter to go find them,” said Austin. “I don’t know what their condition is right now, and I’m really scared.”

Austin set out for shore in his kayak, but abandoned it when it started to take on water, leaving him to swim back. Once he reached the beach, he then had to run two kilometers to get to a phone.

The boy also had the presence of mind to request an ambulance for himself.

“I’m sitting on the beach right now, and I have to also explain – I think I need an ambulance because I think I have hypothermia,” he said.

“I’m extremely tired. I think I have heatstroke, and I feel like I’m about to pass out.”

Austin’s brother and sister were ultimately rescued along with their mother Joanne, 47, after being found clinging to a paddleboard.

Speaking to CNN affiliate 9News earlier this month, Austin said that thinking of his family drove him on.

“I just said ‘alright. Not today, not today, not today,’” he said. “I had to keep on going.”

‘Extraordinary’ bravery

The Western Australia Police Force praised Austin’s actions in a statement Wednesday.

“Austin’s ability to think clearly under pressure demonstrates the type of composure that greatly assists first responders during emergencies,” it read.

Police forward commander acting sergeant Andrew McDonnell said that Austin had helped his family out of an “extremely dire” situation.

“They were in real trouble, and time was absolutely critical given how long they had been in the water and with daylight fading,” he said in the statement.

“What Austin did was nothing short of extraordinary,” added McDonnell. “His bravery and courage in those conditions were remarkable, and his actions were pivotal in bringing about a successful outcome.”
