PORT HUENEME, Calif. (KEYT) A popular former mayor of Port Hueneme has died.

Anthony "Tony" Volante celebrated his 90th birthday last year.

He died in April, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Volante is being remembered for fighting to save Naval Base Ventura County during a string of base closures in the 1990s.

He will also be remembered for helping the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.

The Knights of Columbus honored Volante has his rosary in Oxnard.

Tony Volante is survived by his wife Barbara and their children and grandchildren.

Al menos 10 personas fueron trasladadas al hospital tras un tiroteo en una fiesta junto a un lago cerca de Oklahoma City la noche del domingo, informó la Policía.

No hay sospechosos bajo custodia, pero no hay motivos para creer que exista una amenaza continua para el público, dijo a CNN Emily Ward, portavoz del Departamento de Policía de Edmond.

Los agentes respondieron alrededor de las 9:00 p. m. (hora central) a reportes de disparos en una fiesta en el lago Arcadia, dijo Ward. Diez víctimas fueron trasladadas por los servicios médicos de emergencia a hospitales de toda el área metropolitana de Oklahoma City, añadió, y señaló que las víctimas se encontraban en “diversas condiciones”.

(CNN) — At least 10 people were taken to hospital after a shooting at a lake party near Oklahoma City Sunday night, police said.

No suspects are in custody, but there is no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to the public, Emily Ward, a spokesperson for the Edmond Police Department, told CNN.

Officers responded around 9 p.m. CT to reports of gunfire at a party at Arcadia Lake, Ward said. Ten victims were transported by emergency medical services to hospitals across the Oklahoma City metro area, she said, adding the victims were in “various conditions.”

“The total number of victims is expected to change as additional individuals transported themselves to area hospitals,” police said in a statement on X.

Oklahoma City Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol also responded to the shooting. The Edmond Police Department is leading the investigation, Ward told CNN.

Authorities did not reveal the age range of the victims. Ward described the gathering as a “large party” and said many of those present appeared to be “young adults,” but police are still investigating.

Arcadia Lake is about 13 miles north of Oklahoma City in Edmond, a city of roughly 100,000 residents. The lake is a popular destination for picnicking, camping, fishing and water sports.
