MEXICALI, Mexico (KYMA) – Un crimen ha conmocionado a la comunidad mexicalense, pues se trata de un hecho presuntamente cometido por menores de 13, 15 y 16 años de edad.

De acuerdo a la Fiscalía General de Baja California, el pasado 9 de julio se habrían reportado los hechos, en contra de Flaviano López, quien se desempeñaba como conductor de plataforma digital además de ser un militar retirado, la investigación realizada arroja que presuntamente la adolescente de 16 años solicitó un servicio para trasladarse del fraccionamiento Villa verde a la colonia Satélite, sin embargo, durante el recorrido abordaron también su hermano, de 15 años, y otro adolescente de 13 años.

En ese trayecto uno de ellos accionó un arma de fuego, lesionandólo en la cabeza que le ocasionó la muerte, los presuntos responsables intentaron prender fuego al cuerpo con la intención de ocultar evidencia.

A pesar de su intención y a través de labores de monitoreo el automóvil fue localizado e interceptado por Agentes Estatales, al interior incluso se presentaba indicios hemáticos en su interior.

Los menores se mantienen detenidos, mientras que en la ciudad se han realizado protestas principalmente encabezadas por amigos y chóferes de transporte, donde piden justicia para el militar en retiro.

(CNN) – Spain is on its way to the World Cup final for the first time since 2010 after a comprehensive 2-0 victory over France in the first World Cup semifinal.

It was a complete performance from La Roja, getting a first-half goal from Mikel Oyarzabal from the penalty spot and a second-half insurance strike from Pedro Porro. That was all they needed as the French, so dominant throughout the tournament, couldn’t unlock the strong Spanish defense.

Just a reminder, this Spain team was in an apparent crisis after drawing the first game of the tournament 0-0 against Cape Verde.

There was panic over the coach, the tactics and whether this team actually had the players to fulfill its supposed potential.

Now, just under a month on, this Spain team has cruised into the World Cup final where it will no doubt be favorite against whoever it plays – either England or Argentina.

It’s been a roller-coaster tournament.

Not many would have predicted a shutout for France before this semifinal encounter but, in truth, Didier Deschamps’ team was outshone and outclassed by a far superior opponent.

From the first minute of the game, France looked off the pace and off color and barely laid a glove on Spain.

Maybe we witnessed this French team with rose-tinted glasses in its comprehensive victories against Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco in the knockout stages because when it faced its toughest test, France simply had no answers.

It’s the end of the road for Didier Deschamps and a team whose talents are undeniable but again failed to deliver on the biggest stage.

We will see France again in the third-place game on Saturday, but it’ll be little consolation as France will left to rue what could’ve been.

New York (CNN) — Apple avoided responsibility for the alleged circulation of child sexual abuse material on iCloud after a judge dismissed a lawsuit against the company on Tuesday. The onus should be on lawmakers to protect children instead, the judge said.

The proposed class action was filed by two individuals going by “Amy” and “Jessica.” It claimed that the tech giant failed to “stop or limit the spread” of child sexual abuse materials, also known as CSAM.

Apple fought back against the claims using Section 230, a law that holds online platforms can’t be held accountable for what their users post. The judge sided with that defense in a win for the company and the power of Section 230.

US District Judge Noël Wise in San Jose, California, said in her decision Tuesday that there is no existing law that requires companies to proactively identify and report CSAM. She said that it is up to lawmakers, not the court, “to fix this problem that is contributing to the exploitation of children,” despite possible privacy issues with such a law. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning that the plaintiffs cannot refile.

The plaintiffs are “reviewing Judge Wise’s ruling and evaluating our options,” Hillary Nappi, a lawyer representing the plaintiffs, said in an email.

“This decision only adds urgency to the pending legislative efforts to ensure technology companies can be held accountable for the harm caused by their design choices,” she added.

Apple has made privacy and security for users a hallmark of its brand, but the iPhone maker has for years also faced criticism that it could be doing more to prevent bad actors from operating on its systems.

In 2021, the company walked back a controversial plan to detect CSAM on iCloud. Though some child safety advocates supported the attempt, critics raised privacy concerns because the detection would happen directly on user devices.

The West Virginia attorney general also sued Apple this February, claiming it allowed CSAM to be stored and distributed on iCloud. That case is ongoing. (At the time, an Apple spokesperson said that “protecting the safety and privacy of our users, especially children, is central to what we do.”)

The ruling is a major win for a tech giant using Section 230 in a year that has tested the limits of the law’s liability shield.

Earlier this year, two cases sidestepped Section 230 to hold Meta and YouTube liable for harms against their users by focusing on the companies’ design choices. In one case, in New Mexico, Meta was ordered to pay $375 million in damages; in the other, in California, Meta and YouTube were ordered to pay a combined $6 million in damages.

Growing concerns around the risks of social media to young people have reignited a discussion on and around Capitol Hill about whether Section 230 should be reformed or repealed. Recent lawsuits have also shed light on what tech companies have known about those risks.

OXNARD, Calif. (KEYT) – On Tuesday, the Oxnard Police Department released its community briefing about an officer-involved shooting following a foot chase on the morning of June 17, 2026.

On Wednesday, June 17, around 4:50 a.m., an officer saw a white Mercedes-Benz near Magnolia Street and C Street that was associated with 28-year-old Victor Gallegos who had an active felony warrant for his arrest and was wanted in connection with a felony-level evasion incident in the same vehicle on June 11, 2026, detailed a press release from the Oxnard Police Department on Tuesday.

According to Oxnard Police, officers attempted to stop the Mercedes-Benz for a vehicle code violation, but the driver fled the scene and a vehicle pursuit began.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle before locating it near Ventura Road and Second Street and the chase ended when the vehicle collided head-on with a patrol vehicle driven by Officer David Raney in the 3400 block of Neap Place noted the Oxnard Police Department.

After the collision, Gallegos fled to a nearby backyard on foot with Officer Raney in pursuit and the two started fighting when Officer Raney attempted to take the 28-year-old into custody shared the local police department.

During the struggle, Gallegos allegedly punched Officer Raney in the face several times and attempted to remove his service weapon from its holster while ignoring multiple verbal commands to stop detailed the Oxnard Police Department.

Officer Raney fired a single round from his firearm that hit Gallegos in the upper left leg stated the Oxnard Police Department.

According to the community incident briefing, a woman was in the Mercedes-Benz at the time of the head-on collision and she was later identified as a protected person with a restraining order against Gallegos

Officer Ramey was wearing a body worn camera during the incident and footage from the device was included in Tuesday's community briefing video, but the camera appears to fall off as Officer Ramey entered the backyard where the June 17 shooting occurred.

The remaining footage shows the space between two homes and captured other responding officers moving through the damaged fence and into the backyard on Neap Place.

Additional officers arrived, placed Gallegos into handcuffs and began providing medical assistance to the 28-year-old before he was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center detailed the local law enforcement agency.
